Student Suspended After BB Gun Incident

The recent rampage in Minnesota has scholastic administrators all over the states overreacting and striking out against their students. A Tea Middle School student from the Tea Area School District is the victim of an administration in witch-hunt frenzy mode. They have suspended him and he faces expulsion for possessing an empty BB gun after school hours off of school property.

While school officials and police are investigating the incident, the superintendent tells me the boy never threatened anyone with the gun, and he’s not even sure the boy had the gun on school property.

They believe the boy may have walked by the school with the gun after school hours.

These administrators need help. Their actions here show that they are incapable of functioning in a rational manner. They are frightened past the point of a sane response. The BB gun “looked real, so the consequences are real”. Superintendent Dean Jones completely ignored the fact that the school had no authority over the student, that he broke no school rule, broke no law and presented no danger. Jones’ reply was that the school “is taking the report seriously and the boy is being dealt with”. ‘Dealt with’ seems to be synonymous with ‘lynching’. After all, school officials are “taking no chances”.

The police, on the other hand, acted commendably. They investigated a report and closed it when they discovered it was a non-issue.

But as far as the police are concerned, the boy won’t face any charges.

“There wasn’t any damage, there wasn’t any ammo in it, it was just an empty gun, b-b gun,” said [Tea Chief of Police Dick] Dubro.

If only the school administration had the same respect for rationality and the law that the police department does.
