School district OKs policy revisions

It’s great to be able to report when ZT takes a step backward. It is a reaffirmation that people who are working against these policies are having successes. In this case the Blaine County School Board has removed the Zero Tolerance for Weapons rule from their school policy and replaced it with the following:

Students are forbidden to knowingly and/or voluntarily possess, handle, transmit or use a firearm, dirk knife, bowie knife, dagger, metal knuckles or other deadly or dangerous weapon while on school property, in any school vehicle or at any school sponsored activity.

Note the key terms of “knowingly” and “voluntarily” and most especially “deadly or dangerous weapon”. The policy recommends (not mandates) a one year expulsion for violators. This is one school policy I could get behind.

Kudos to Blaine County!
